Extraction methods and processes
The various high-standard equipment allows Alpinamed to use the full spectrum of extraction methods, i.e. from the classic maceration of fresh plants up to the standardised fluid and dried extracts, through turbo-extraction or percolation.

Fresh plant extracts / tinctures
Fresh plants are immediately, after being controlled for their identity and quality, photographed, chopped and stabilised in alcohol. Only the very best plants are used for our extracts, originating either from cultivations or collected from wild rural areas (without any toxic or harmful pollution). With regard to the identity, purity and concentration, the same requirements are applied as for the dried raw material. Each supplier of fresh plants certifies the origin, the way of cultivation and time of harvest in order to allow clear tractability.

The stabilized fresh plants are processed either according the valid pharmacopoeia, the customer’s own specifications or following internal methods. They are mixed and moved (maceration) with defined quantities of ethanol/water as a rule for 10 days. Subsequently pressing separates the plant residuals, the saturated liquid phase is filtered and analysed.

Pressed-juices
Some fresh plants are pressed immediately after chopping. The cleaned plant material is chopped again and processed by a hydraulic press. The then obtained juices are stabilised with adequate procedures.
